Seems as though knitterly minds really do think alike.
When I really need to knit something and can’t get things to work out just so-or run out of yarn for a particular project (how one even does that with such a huge stash in the first place, I’ll never know), I knit dish cloths. Gracie seems to do the same thing. :) Usually, I knit them for my mil. She gets a new set about every season on average. But, seeing as how we are just getting comfortable with the move back, I figured, I may need some myself. Besides, moving back is almost like getting a brand new kitchen, right? Lol.
I think right after color, texture would be my next love of my crafting life.
I should probably knit maybe two or three more and then I’ll feel like I have enough to start fresh with. But these colors go well with the kitchen, I think. I have some purple mercerized cotton for a table runner as well. And I have more yarn for my pillow form out in the sun room I had started from the last post. I’m thinking that should be done by next weekend. So, that’s a good start on some home knits.
After, I knit the dishcloths, I knit a swatch for my socks out of the most recent handspun.
I really couldn’t help this photo…I just liked it, lol. Tells you nothing about the swatch though. LOL!
Ahem. Here’s a better pic of that. :)
I love how the colors of this swatch worked up! I couldn’t wait to start on the socks, so I rummaged through my stash to come up with something I could accept for a contrasting yarn. I found a pale orange that is repeated a little in the yarn. By the end of the day, I came up with almost a whole sock.
I figure I’ll get this sock knit before bedtime and I can start the next one tomorrow. I can be walking in a new pair of socks before next weekend! Yes, they are wool. No worries though. Delawareans blast air conditioners as if they wish it were winter time, lol.
Whew! Catastrophe averted! :)
